Miniature Herringbone Pattern SVG | Dollhouse Floor & Decorative Pattern
Sometimes it's the background details rather than the furniture that make a miniature room convincing.
Our Herringbone Pattern provides a simple way to introduce the familiar geometric arrangement of herringbone into your miniature projects, giving floors and other surfaces an extra layer of detail and texture.
Herringbone works particularly well in period interiors, elegant hallways, vintage rooms and traditional dollhouses, but it can just as easily become part of a contemporary or fantasy setting depending on the colours and materials you choose.
Create the appearance of traditional wooden parquet flooring for a classic interior, experiment with weathered or mismatched tones for an older cottage, or use the pattern somewhere completely unexpected.
Miniature making is particularly good at turning apparently ordinary design elements into something special.
A beautifully patterned floor can change the entire feel of a room before you've added a single piece of furniture. Once rugs, chairs, tables and other objects are placed over it, glimpses of the pattern help create the impression of a properly finished interior rather than simply a box containing miniature furniture.
Because this is a digital design, you can use the pattern as the basis for your own creative interpretation rather than being tied to one particular colour or finish.
It's also useful for makers who enjoy ageing and distressing their miniature environments. Individual sections can be varied so that the finished surface doesn't look unnaturally uniform.
Use it as part of a grand room, a tiny cottage, an atmospheric book nook or somewhere entirely of your own invention.
It's a small detail — but miniature worlds are built from small details.
This download is for the digital SVG file, to make this amazing Herringbone Pattern.
We used this pattern on the Cricut Maker machine with the Debossing Tool and some Cricut Kraft Board, to create a beautiful faux Parquet Floor effect. But you can use these patterns in whichever way you like!
Guidance Notes are included in the download and a short example video is on our YouTube channel
